2022 Workshop on Algorithm and Big Data

2022 Workshop on Algorithm and Big Data is scheduled on June 25-26. The concept of an algorithm and algorithmic thinking are not only for software system, but also relevant to all sciences and fields of human endeavour. With the development of internet and networks, the volume of data has become ever large and heterogeneous, making big data technology a double-edged sword. The trend of even broad application of data technology posed great challenges to researchers such as data mining, gathering, transferring and storage.

The workshop will provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss on advanced models and algorithms to take advantage of big data and ensure data security. It is high time to call for contributions to present their continuing efforts on big data intelligence. Meanwhile, the authors of accepted submissions are invited to present their works. The best presenters will be awarded.

Title of Speech:

Investigation on Security Issues in IoT Systems

The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a significant paradigm to advance the fourth industrial revolution, such as Industry 4.0. The IoT possesses the ability to make billions of physical devices including vehicles, machines, home appliances, and more—around the globe connected to the Internet, collecting and sharing data. Interconnectivity, sensing capability, ambient intelligence, and autonomous control are the key integral characteristics of today’s IoT framework, where IoT devices share the sensor data they collect, analyze them locally or in the cloud, and send relevant IoT data analytics to users. The IoT enables an extensive set of applications and services such as home automation, environmental monitoring, healthcare, transportation, agricultural automaton, connected vehicles, energy efficiency and smart grid, remote monitoring and control, etc.

With high demands of the IoT enabled applications, the development of IoT systems has advanced quickly resulting in a wide spreading of the IoT. At the same time, the security aspect of the IoT emerges as the biggest concern. The IoT systems contain numerous vulnerabilities, making them susceptible to various malicious attacks. The inherent heterogeneity in services, applications, and devices in IoT systems introduces multimodal complexity to the IoT security solutions. The development of novel IoT security schemes faces further challenges because of the presence of diverse communication media and respective proprietary protocols.

In this talk, recent literature on IoT security will be reviewed with a focus on the following aspects including the basic configurations of IoT networks, security vulnerability under malicious attacks, security requirements, security solutions, and open research issues. It is expected that this talk could provide an opportunity to promote potential collaboration on academic research in the field of network security.
